The F-86 Saber, sometimes called the Sabrejet, is a transonic jet fighter. Produced by North American Aviation, the Saber is best known as the first swept-wing fighter in the United States that could counter Soviet-like MiG-15 fighter wings in high-speed air combat in the skies of the Korean War. (1950 -1953). Considered one of the best and most important fighter jets of this war, the F-86 is also very popular with hunters of other times. The Saber proved versatile and adaptable and continued to fight the front line in many armed forces until the Bolivian operational forces in 1994.
Its success extended the production of over 7,800 aircraft between 1949 and 1956 in the United States, Japan and Italy. Variants have been built in Canada and Australia. The Canadair Saber added 1,815 fuselages, and the considerably redesigned CAC Saber (sometimes known as Avon Saber or CAC CA-27) had a production of 112. The Saber was by far the most successful Western fighter. Produces production of all variants at 9,860 units.
